Better interiors.
Less waste.
More lasting value.

We help the interiors industry put circular design into practice—keeping products and materials in use, reducing waste and creating lasting value beyond a single project.

What we do

Accelerate the transition to a circular interiors industry.

The Center for Circularity in Interior Design (CCID) is a nonprofit established to advance the practical adoption of circular design across the interiors industry.

We provide a neutral platform connecting people, knowledge and resources to address the technical, commercial and institutional barriers to circularity—reducing carbon, waste and resource consumption while improving material health and creating economic opportunity.

How we do it

A Mindset and a Mechanism.

Circularity requires both a shift in thinking and the mechanisms to put it into practice. The mindset is
to see interiors as temporary assemblies of finite resources—incorporating reused, refurbished and renewable materials, while designing for adaptation, disassembly and future reuse.

The mechanism is collaboration across the interiors value chain. We connect designers, manufacturers, contractors, material recovery specialists, owners and other stakeholders to build knowledge, partnerships and shared solutions.

Through convening, education, demonstration and scaling successful initiatives, we develop the practical tools, business models and relationships needed to make circularity easier to adopt.

Why we do it

Good materials should have a future beyond their first use.

The materials, products and furnishings used in interiors represent a significant source of embodied carbon, resource depletion and waste.

While awareness of circularity is growing, implementation remains fragmented, with stakeholders often working towards shared goals in isolation.

The transition to circularity is not simply a design challenge, but a systems challenge. Our ambition is to turn isolated initiatives into repeatable approaches, making circularity standard practice across the interiors industry.

Connect with us

Turning shared ambition into practical action.

CCID is developing partnerships, pilot projects and industry initiatives to demonstrate circularity in practice.

Join us at Greenbuild 2026, October 20–23 in New York, where we’re curating Circularity in Practice, a pavilion in partnership with mindful MATERIALS.

We’re inviting collaborators, industry partners and founding sponsors to help build the knowledge, infrastructure and commercial models needed to accelerate circularity at scale.
